Description
Black barley is a special type of barley with a deep purple-black colour. The variety was brought to the UK by the British Quinoa Company. This barley is packed with antioxidants called anthocyanins.
The grains have a sweet, nutty taste and stay dark when cooked. Use them in soups, stews, salads, or as a side dish. You can also mill them at home to make fresh, tasty flour.
Cook the grains whole or grind them using a grain mill to make flour.
Grown in Lincolnshire by Mike Neaverson.
